Where to Stay in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has a multitude of excellent hotels, whether you’re looking for five star heritage luxury and a taste of old Hong Kong, or the hippest boutique hotel by an up-and-coming designer. Where you choose to stay may well depend on your proposal location you, so here are some ideas on Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, and Lantau Island.
Where to Stay on Hong Kong Island
One of the most sought after hotels on Hong Kong Island is the Stanley Oriental Hotel, located in Stanley Bay on the south side of the island. The contemporary style rooms have every modern luxury and you can benefit from a private wrap around balcony with a view of the ocean.
For a memorable stay on Hong Kong Island, check out J Plus Boutique Hotel, located in Causeway Bay, one of the most thriving areas of Hong Kong. Designed by Philippe Starck, the romantic interior is styled beyond mere decoration, and makes a stay at J Plus a complete experience. Rooms come fully equipped with a kitchenette and marble bathroom.
Another small and luxurious hotel, designed by Andre Fu, is the Upper House located in Pacific Place. Designed to be reminiscent of a private residence, the Upper House gives the feeling of a peaceful tranquil home above the bustle of the city, and its natural materials combine beautifully with pieces of art and sculpture.
Where to Stay in Kowloon
One of the most prestigious hotels in the Kowloon area is The Peninsula which is the only historical five star luxury hotel on the island, built during the 1920s. It has become part of the essence of Hong Kong and a stay there will certainly add glamour and a sense of occasion to your proposal vacation.
Another way to experience old Hong Kong is to book a suit at the Hullett House Hotel. This beautiful white colonial building is located on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and each suite, complete with private terraced balcony, is designed to reflect a particular period of Hong Kong history.
For something more contemporary in Kowloon, check out Hotel Icon, a thoroughly modern international hotel designed by Terence Conran, Rocco Yim and William Lim, which features stunning open public spaces, an impressive sweeping staircase, a unique vertical garden, and a harbor facing outdoor pool.
Where to Stay on Lantau Island
For a tranquil and unusual place to stay on Lantau Island, check out the Tai O Heritage Hotel, a five room hotel that was originally built at the beginning of the twentieth century as a police station. The building has been carefully restored to maintain its original features, and is furnished in a classical style. Tai O is one of the oldest fishing villages in Hong Kong and has been named 'Venice of the Orient' due to its stilt houses on the water.
If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel on Lantau Island, there are plenty of hotels near the airport such as the Hong Kong Sky city Marriott Hotel, but you could also choose to add another dimension to your proposal vacation by staying at one of the fabulous Disney hotels. The Hong Kong Disney Hotel is a Victorian style building with a spa and pool, and balconies overlooking the water, while Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is a real fantasy land for Disney fans.
