Texas Hilltop Christmas Engagement
My now fiance' Matt invited me to his grandparents' home in Lukenbach, TX for Christmas. His grandparents own acres of beautiful land in the middle of Texas Hill Country. I knew he had the ring that I had picked out with him on the trip and I knew I was getting it for Christmas, but I wasn't 100% sure he was going to propose.(I guess you could say I'm a bit spacey because we were shopping for diamond rings.) He kept dropping hints and I saw him and his mom secretly talking a few times on the way to Texas. On Christmas Eve, we spent the day in Frederickburg, TX looking in the shops and restaurants. When we got back to the house, he asked if he could borrow the 4-wheeler so he could show me the biggest hill on the property. His grandmother was reluctant (she was worried we'd get hurt or something might happen to the 4-wheeler.) Thank God we were allowed. I had butterflies the entire ride through the countryside on the 4-wheeler with my arm wrapped around him. We finally parked and began the climb up to the hilltop. Finally at the top, we could had a 360 degree view of the country. It was nothing short of breath-taking. He said, "This is the spot I had picked out." That's when I knew. I just started kissing him like crazy. Next he said something romantic about how much he loves me, I can't remember because I was too caught up in the moment. He began reaching into his pocket and got down on his knee. I had never seen him so nervous as long as I've known him! He said "Will you marry me." I said yes and gave him my hand to put the ring onto my finger. It was amazing! I couldn't have dreamed of a more romantic proposal. He wanted it to be me and him against the world. No one else around to distract or influence us. The family seemed to be waiting for us The ring is the most beautiful thing I have ever owned and I get compliments all the time. We haven't set a date yet, but we are thinking March of 2009.
