Roses and Shooting Stars
You wanna hear the best engagement story ever???? This was the most romantic night of my life and it ended in perfection and surprise. From a bad day to a great night, Mike never fails to make me smile
February 14, 2012. I was kind of bummed out because my boyfriend had to study for school and I really wanted to see him for my lunch break at work. He is studying to be in the nursing program here in Florida. When I got to work, I was really bummed out because everyone got chocolates and flowers and I did not. I didn't even get a card. I felt so lonely and that my Valentine's Day had gone so badly that I just wanted to go home and cry. But I had to save my tears because Mike, my now fiancee, promised me he would take me to my favorite Japanese restaurant, Japan Inn, in Plantation, Florida. This hibachi place had the best food and it always filled me up. So that was something that I had looked forward to.
I had to race home from work at 5:30 to hurry up to get changed. I live a half hour north of where I work and in rush hour traffic, it takes almost an hour. So I raced home to change. I forgot my favorite red dress so I was kinda bummed out about that. I started thinking... is anything else going to go wrong tonight? Sure enough, we were late to our 7:30 reservations which were an hour south of where we live. Traffic was worse than we had planned. I felt like crying, but decided that we were at the restaurant and would be seated quickly due to our reservations. I was wrong. We waited another half hour before being seated. I was STARVING at this point because I had not eaten all day. It took about 20 minutes to get our appetizers. Once the cook came to WOW us with our meal as he cooked in front of us, my worries started to disappear.
After an awesome, yet expensive dinner, Mike and I headed home. This time, it only took us a half hour to get back home. However, Mike had to make a stop first. So he pulled into a small park so we could sit and watch the stars. I was freezing, but I decided to humor him.
He sat down next to me and kissed me. He then realized he had blankets in his car. I was so thrilled to have blankets that I immediately asked him to get them. He came back with not only the blankets, but a bouquet of roses. I saw a small note in the roses and began to read: "From first to last I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I will love you until the last rose dies."
Keep in mind, it was really dark, so I did not even see the fake rose at first until he removed it from the bouquet. Attached to the fake rose was a little black box. He got down on one knee and held the box open. Inside the box was a fortune cookie type piece of paper that read "Will you marry me?" Right in front of that piece of paper was the most beautiful engagement ring. Shaped like a heart with 36 diamonds, I smiled from ear to ear and kissed him and said yes.
As we sat there on that bench in the park and cuddled up while looking at the stars, Mike kissed me again. We both looked up at the night sky at the same time and saw a shooting star. We both made the wish to be with each other happily forever.
This was the best Valentine's Day I have ever had.
