If you’re planning a proposal trip to Las Vegas, the chances are you’ll be looking for somewhere romantic and spectacular to stay and you certainly won’t be disappointed. Las Vegas has more hotel rooms than any other city in the United States and the majority of them have luxurious features and top class facilities. Many people choose to stay on the strip in one of the large well known hotels and casinos, while others prefer a little peace away from the bustle of the strip itself.

Hotel Casinos on the Strip

For the real Las Vegas experience, nothing beats staying at one of the major casino hotels along the strip. You can eat, catch a show, shop, and gamble without ever leaving the hotel. The Bellagio is often described as the most romantic, and is a luxurious choice that has more understated charm than many of the brasher hotels on the strip. The MGM Grand is the largest and most glamorous casino hotel, and is currently undergoing major refurbishments which will be well worth a look.

Architecturally the Luxor is perhaps the most fascinating casino hotel on the strip. The main portion of the hotel is a 30 story pyramid encased in dark bronze glass. Guests travel to their rooms by riding in inclinators that travel along the inner surface of the pyramid at a 39 degree angle. The Mandalay Bay Hotel is a stylish choice, and aims for an atmosphere of casual elegance and effortless relaxation. There is also a non-gaming Four Seasons hotel located on the top floors of the Mandalay Bay.

For those looking for European inspired romance, Paris Las Vegas provides the ultimate in French style and decor, as well as a replica Eiffel Tower that is the perfect place to dine while you watch the Bellagio fountains. Alternatively check out The Venetian, an all-suite hotel, for Italian style and a taste of Venice that includes an indoor canal.

Hotels Away from the Strip

Some couples may prefer to stay slightly off the main strip so they can enjoy a little peace and quiet when they’ve had enough of the chaos of Las Vegas. The Westin Las Vegas Hotel is a retreat one block from the strip, and features an outdoor pool and spa as well as its own casino.

Another luxurious hideaway just a block from the strip is The Platinum Hotel, which features one and two bedroom suites with every modern amenity. Finally you could treat your girlfriend to pampering in style at the Staybridge Suites, located around half a mile from the strip.

Resorts in Las Vegas

If you’re planning a longer trip to Sin City you might want to consider one of the resorts around the city. The Loews Las Vegas is a unique desert resort on the lake where you can enjoy golf courses, restaurants, spas, and water sports, all within a short distance of the Las Vegas strip.

For those that like adventure and mountain views as well as the glitz and glamour of Vegas, the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa is a superb choice. However, for those that want the amenities of a resort a bit closer to the action, Encore Wynn is an ultra modern resort extension to the original Wynn Hotel.

Most of the casino hotels on the Las Vegas strip boast a number of high class restaurants providing a range of cuisines from classic American to Mediterranean to Japanese. Many are located on higher levels meaning they have fantastic views of Las Vegas as well as exquisite food, but be sure to book your table well in advance if you want to enjoy the view. Here are a few great places to celebrate your engagement.

The Eifel Tower Restaurant is, as the name suggests, on the 11th floor of the Paris Las Vegas replica Eifel Tower. Serving high quality French cuisine, in modern art deco surroundings, with a fabulous view of the strip and the Bellagio fountains, this restaurant is hard to beat for romance.

The Top of the Word Restaurant in the Stratosphere tower takes gourmet cuisine to a whole new level. Being the only revolving restaurant in Las Vegas, and being able to dine 844 feet up in the air should be enough for a memorable experience, but the food also happens to be fantastic.

Alizé on the 56th floor of the Palms casino and resort is a perfect place for foodies to indulge their love of fine food. Their contemporary French cuisine, their extensive wine list, and their fabulous cognac collection combine with the view to create a night to remember.

The Ranch Steakhouse on the 24th floor of the West Tower is ideal for those old romantics looking for a touch of vintage Vegas. From the service and the decor to the chicken fried lobster and the 21 ounce Porterhouse steaks, this little gem is certainly classic Las Vegas.

Bertolotta at the Wynn hotel is an incredibly romantic location, particularly if you eat outside in one of the private cabanas surrounded by a shimmering lagoon. Enjoy the Italian coastal cuisine which features seafood and shellfish flown in daily from the Mediterranean.

Olives at the Bellagio is a fabulous setting to watch the fountains in action if you’re lucky enough to get a patio seat. The restaurant offers a Mediterranean style experience and the menu features house-made pastas, steaks, rotisserie dishes, and brick oven pizzas.

Shibuya at the MGM Grand has consistently been voted the best Japanese restaurant in Las Vegas and boasts the ultimate sushi and Teppanyaki experience with traditional and modern Japanese cuisine. They also have an extensive sake collection including three exclusive private labels.
