Thursday, April 26th, was an eventful afternoon at The Martin Agency in NY. Digital Associate Media Director Erica Plotkin heard from her team that something was wrong with their client’s banner ads on BBC.com. They sent her a link to the page, and asked her to check out the errors.

After loading the page, she noticed that the ads weren’t her client’s at all, but rather a synched takeover from her boyfriend, Ad salesman Scott Sklar, asking her to marry him! He had been in cahoots with close friend (and BBC Account Exec for The Martin Agency) Kendra Kuehnle, who had orchestrated the page takeover. Erica, upon seeing the ads, thought this was a practical joke, but before she could get upset, in walked Scott in a tux with roses, followed by 2 violinists. He got down on one knee and reiterated the banners’ inquiry, to which she replied yes. The full team at The Martin Agency in NY were on hand to congratulate and celebrate with the newly engaged couple!

After the celebration, Scott and Erica took off to meet Kendra and several other industry folks at a happy hour planned by Erica and Amanda Betsold of Universal McCann. While Amanda and Erica regularly plan industry gatherings, Erica had no idea she was planning her own impromptu engagement celebration! Family and friends surrounding them, they celebrated into the night, and worked from home on Friday
